Hi, I’m Meo Veldhuizen.
Thanks for visiting, allow me introduce myself.
I am a native of the Netherlands where I studied architecture and engineering before coming to the United States. For the past 35 years I have lived and worked in Litchfield County. Always looking for new challenges, I have turned some of my energy to wards abstract painting as well as creating pieces of clean modern furniture. This website will feature some of my latest work in both areas.
As an painter, I like to experiment with different styles and techniques as well as color. It’s a way of broadening one’s horizon and the path to discovery. At times I’ll use colors that naturally complement each other. But sometimes it’s fun to put colors together that are just a little “off” to see where it leads me. That generally leads to a frustrating battle to get get things right but in the end may make far an interesting canvas.
The tools I generally use are brush, knife and some kind of scraper to move the paint on the canvas. In doing that a fair amount of pressure is applied, therefore my favorite medium to paint on is hardboard, since it can handle those pressures
